The first workshop of our research project took place on November 18 and 19, 2021, at the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies at the University of Zurich. Under the title "Writing Individual Itineraries in the Mediterranean Macro-Region: Methodological Considerations about the Relationship between Biography and Structure," we spent two days with researchers from France, Algeria, Morocco, Israel, and Germany discussing the challenges and possibilities of an actor-centered historiography in the Mediterranean. The organizing team would like to thank all participants for inspiring exchanges and fascinating insights into their current research.
